This
leaf shows how the vine decoration has evolved from the rudimentary
drawings of Number 17. The stem and branches are finely drawn, and
the strawberry fruit and flower show keen attention to detail. The
large initial letters were not as carefully done and show that it
was usual for various people to work on different aspects of the
page. The workmanship of at least two others is also visible –
the person who drew the guidelines and the actual scribe.
