Call #: MSS C555/2/13.9u
Author: Morton, Arthur Silver
Title: Whereas the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and temporal and commons in Parliament assembled has permitted.... 1884?
Description: 12 pages.
Notes: Part of a series of drafts of petitions and lists of grievances Jackson drew up for the settlers' committee. The material was copied by Cicely Plaxton and is somewhat fragmentary and disorganised. These resolutions protest the Dominion government's passage of legislation in the following areas: the raising of revenues from the North-West Territories in an improper manner, charging settlers an unjust price for land, charging settlers unjust school rates, creating monopolies, making improper judicial regulations and laws, the unjust raising of prices by means of the protective tariff, failing to construct public works in order to provide employment for the inhabitants, and the refusal to accept Métis and Indian land title.
