Notes: Williams was a trooper with Major S.B. Steele's Scouts during the Resistance of 1885. A number of years later, he wrote this manuscript in which he describes the grueling problems that the troops faced in their march from Calgary to the Saskatchewan to suppress a rising of the Cree Indians under Big Bear.
