Author: Oliver, Edmund H.
Title: Saskatchewan and Alberta: General History, 1870-1912
Published: Toronto: Edinburgh University Press, 1914.
Notes: Oliver has a brief section on the Riel Resistance of 1885 which he considers was a small part of the political history of Saskatchewan. His account is extremely unsympathetic to the Métis grievances. He argues that the Resistance was an "act of madness" and that Riel was insane for leading his people to revolt. He goes on to say that "its significance scarcely justifies the interest it has aroused."
