Author: Hatt, Ken
Title: Louis Riel as Charismatic Leader
Published: Winnipeg: Manitoba Métis Federation Press, 1979.
Notes: Hatt uses the Weberian concept of charisma to examine Riel and his leadership role during the Resistance of 1885. This concept has three aspects: the prophetic act; the establishment of charismatic authority, and charismatic domination. Hatt's approach is an alternative to the psychiatric and millennial perspectives used in other studies of Riel.
