Denny was an Agent of Treaty Number Seven at the time of the Riel Rebellion of 1885. In his chapter on the Rebellion, he argues that the government's failure to do anything about the Indians' grievances was a cause of the outbreak. He also briefly outlines the course of the Rebellion. Even though he is not sympathetic to Riel and the Métis he does argue that if the government had addressed their grievances, the Rebellion could have been averted. | |
