See also narrower topics that have been given emphasis within the SOCIOLOGY/

       ANTHROPOLOGY section; namely, GAY PARENTS/ADOPTION/CHILD

CUSTODY;  PARENTS OF GAYS/LESBIANS; and

VIOLENCE/ABUSE/HOMOPHOBIA.

Note also that the last of these includes abuse within gay relationships.

See also LAW and RELIGION sections for relevant material.

See note re marriage in introductory material at beginning of LAW section.

Additional note at time of 2008 updating of this list:

With respect to RELIGION sections, see various notes there, and

particularly the one under the “Roman Catholic” subheading, regarding indexing

policy of some denominational periodicals.

User will also note that in the years leading up to passage of same-sex

marriage legislation in 2005, the popular press was inundated with editorials,

opinion pieces, and newsnotes of various lengths and quality. Compiler has included

only some of the major items, here or in the POLITICS section (and sometimes

elsewhere), in order to provide a few signposts with respect to specific issues and

dates. The serious researcher in a narrow area might wish to draw more items from

the indexes to obtain a sharper picture. Items included in this list concerning same-

sex marriage and other issues of contemporary discussion tended to be those works

indexed in the sources searched. That set was reduced further to a subset of works

generally of substantial length and prominent placement within a publication (on the

front page of a newspaper, e.g.)
