Search Tips

Boolean Operators

The boolean operators AND, OR and NOT are supported, but must be in CAPS:

Dick AND Jane

Require/Prohibit Operators

The + (required) and - (prohibited) operators common to many search engines are supported:

+Dick -Jane

Phrase Searching

Phrase searching is supported by enclosing the phrase in double-quotes

"More Dick and Jane Stories"

Grouping

Search terms can be grouped using parenthesis to build complex queries

(Dick OR Jane OR Sally) AND Primer
("Dick and Jane" AND Guidebook) NOT Sally

Truncation

The truncation character * can be used at the end of a term to find variants of a word. For example, the following search, performed on the Author field, will find books by both Dickens, Charles and Dickie, D. J:

Dick*
