Abstract:
Memo, undated, from John A. McCone, Director of CIA, to the President, confirming the accuracy of the 18-June New York Times report by Homer Bigart on the Viet Cong attack on a military convoy near Ben Cat, north of Saigon. The Memo said: "It clearly appears that the residents in the nearby area were well aware of the ambush two to four hours in advancve but were under threat not to betray the Viet Cong."
