Abstract:
By May 1964 Catholics, particularly in the area of Hue, Thua Thien Province, and in Quang Ngai Province, believed that discrimination against them followed in the wake of the overthrow of the government of Ngo Dinh Diem. Some Catholics felt that the US Government was, at least indirectly, favoring the cause of the Buddhists to the detriment of the Catholics. One group sent representatives to Saigon to devise methods of countering Buddhist pressure on the Government of Vietnam.
