Abstract:
1) In Kompong Cham, the Khmer Rouge in the area around Suong were now collecting taxes regularly from the population. The taxes varied from a riel or two in the case of poor people up to several sacs of rice from wealthy firms. 2) One reason for the Cambodian authorities' slowness in expelling the Viet Cong hospitals which had been established in the border areas of Cambodia was that these hospitals provided free medical treatment to Cambodian officials and their families.
