Abstract:
As a result of the bombing restrictions announced on 31 March, the Rolling Thunder program was confined to the areas south of the 19th parallel. Since this area contains only a few of the significant economic and military targets in North Vietnam, the bombing program during the second quarter of 1968 was almost exclusively against the logistics targets system. The scale of the effort was not reduced significantly, however, and more than 27,000 attack sorties were flown during the quarter. This effort was a considerable increase above that of the first quarter but still below that of the comparable period for 1967.
