Abstract:
On 25 March 1967, Dr. Dang Van Sung, a Deputy in the Constituent Assembly (CA), met with a group of his political followers, with whom he meets regularly, to discuss the political situation. He informed the group that his support had been solicited by two groups that are forming blocs in the CA, and by Ha Thuc Ky, of the Dai Viet Party, who plans to be a candidate for president. He said that he has made no commitments, but that he will not support Ha Thuc Ky. He discussed the coming presidential election. Sung expects Nguyen Cao Ky to be a candidate, and that unless there is an opposing candidate who has American support, Ky is certain to be elected. He compared Ky and Nguyen Van Thieu, and feels that Ky is the more adept and politically astute.
