COMMISSION ON FIRST NATIONS AND MÉTIS PEOPLES AND JUSTICE
REFORM TO HEAR PRESENTATIONS NEXT WEEK
SASKATOON – The Commission on First Nations and Métis Peoples
and Justice Reform has scheduled a number of events for the week of January 13,
including the release of its second interim report.
On Monday, January 13, the Commission will hear a presentation
from the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations. The FSIN will make this
presentation at the Indian & Métis Friendship Centre, 168 Wall Street in
Saskatoon beginning at 1:00 p.m.
The following day, Tuesday, January 14, the Saskatchewan
Coalition Against Racism (SCAR) will make a presentation. This event also takes
place at the Indian and Métis Friendship Centre and begins at 10:45 a.m.
A joint presentation from Saskatchewan Justice and Corrections
and Public Safety will be received by the Commission on Wednesday, January 15.
This daylong session begins at 9:00 a.m. at the Indian & Métis Friendship
Centre.
On Friday, January 17, the Justice Reform Commission will hear
a presentation from the Canadian Race Relations Foundation. This session begins
at 9:00 a.m. at the Friendship Centre.
Immediately following the presentation from the Foundation,
the Commission will release its second interim report. The release of the report
by Commission Chair Willie Littlechild will begin at 10:45 a.m. at the
Friendship Centre.
All of the events are open to the public and the media. A
