JUSTICE REFORM COMMISSION
HOLDING DIALOGUES THIS WEEK
SASKATOON – The Commission on First Nations and
Métis Peoples and Justice Reform has scheduled a number of dialogues and
presentations for this week.
"This is an important week for the Commission as
we prepare to release our second interim report next month,’ said Commission
chair Willie Littlechild. "We know the presenters will have much to tell us in
the area of youth and the justice system which will be an important part of this
next report."
On Tuesday, October 22, the Commission will hear
from the Elizabeth Fry Society of Saskatchewan. The meeting will take place at
the Indian and Métis Friendship Centre, 168 Wall Street in Saskatoon between 1
p.m. and 2:30 p.m. This event is open to the media and the general public.
The Commission will meet with Indian Child and
Family Services and the Saskatchewan Police Commission on Wednesday, October 23.
The presentation from Indian Child and Family Services will be heard between 1
p.m. and 2:30 p.m. and the Police Commission presentation will be heard
beginning at 2:45 p.m. The location is the Indian and Métis
Friendship Centre
and both presentations are open to the public and media.
On Friday, October 25 the Justice Reform
Commission will be in Prince Albert for four presentations. Four groups will
make presentations to the Commission. They are: Prince Albert Police Service,
Operation Target, Prince Albert Youth Outreach Program and Prince Albert Youth
