The Peter Bietenholz Rare Book Collection

April 2010 - December 2010

The Peter Bietenholz Rare Book Collection was donated by Peter and Doris Bietenholz to the University of Saskatchewan Library before they moved away to Vancouver. The collection contains several rare books that are many hundreds of years old, including 16th and 17th century translations of important authors like Ovid, Horace, Julius Cæsar, Machiavelli, Plutarch and Erasmus. The exhibit shows off especially handsome editions with fine gilded spines, moroccan leather, fine illustration, or other notable features. To examine the books in person come to University Archives and Special Collections on the third floor of the Murray Library. View the list of books in the library's catalogue or check out the website dedicated to the collection.
