About the University Authors Collection:

book1

Located in University Archives and Special Collections, Murray Library, this collection of over 2500 volumes is the repository for monographic publishing by University of Saskatchewan faculty and staff.  The collection contains works authored, edited, or translated by U. of S. faculty and staff since 1910.  U. of S. lecture series’ publications, such as those of the Sorokin and Whelen lectures, are also included in this collection.  The Library actively collects such material.  The University Authors Collection is archival in that items are kept intact, without Library markings and with dust jackets; many of the titles are also signed.  Further copies of most University Authors Collection titles are available for circulation in other Library locations.  The criteria for inclusion in the University Authors Collection are as follows.

The work, which can be in any format, must be:

A monographic work, a chapter in a monographic work, a translation of a monographic work, a subsequent edition (not a reprint) of a monographic work, or edited conference proceedings;

Book3

  •  Authored, edited, translated, or compiled by a U. of S. faculty or staff member during the period of the individual’s U. of S. employment or retirement;
  •  Or a U. of S. lectureship publication.

Material in the University Authors Collection is fully catalogued and the records are accessible through the Library’s Catalogue.

Celebrating University Authors:

Book2The 2015 University Authors Exhibition is a celebration of published works by some of our University Authors.  This builds on a tradition begun in 2002 when the magnificent works published by our Faculty, Staff, Researchers and students housed in the University Authors collection were first showcased.

The Library wishes to acknowledge and thank the many University of Saskatchewan authors who donated their books to these current and past exhibitions for inclusion in the University Authors Collection, and for inclusion in other Library locations.   We also appreciate receiving advance information from university authors on their forthcoming publications.
