Grant Application Development

If you are considering writing an application for a grant or other source of funding to support a project that incorporates digitizing, computing, audio, and/or video, the DRC may be able to help you in a number of ways:

• Estimate costs of equipment and labour and assist with budget development
• Offer resources or services as an in-kind contribution
• Install and support equipment

Estimate Costs of Equipment and Labour

Many granting agencies require detailed estimates of costs for technology and technology-related work. The DRC can help you prepare estimates for everything from computers and hardware peripherals, through application programs and network services, to data preparation (digitization, text-entry, markup) and coding. We would be more than happy to sit down with you, discuss what would be suitable for your project and then provide you with an appropriately detailed breakdown of costs.

DRC labour or resources as in-kind contribution

In certain circumstances, the DRC may be able to support a grant application for your project by agreeing to provide labour, training, equipment or other resources as an in-kind contribution.

Install and Support Equipment

If your grant application is successful, the DRC and its technical staff will install and service any equipment purchased. Not only does locating the equipment within the DRC alleviate you from any technical and/or space-finding headaches, allowing you to focus on your actual research, successful grant applications are the source of the majority of new equipment purchases for the DRC; once your project is over, the equipment will continue to benefit other researchers and students.

 

Project Management and Other Services

The DRC and its staff have extensive experience with a wide variety of digital humanities and fine arts projects. Some of the services we can offer are:
